In a major security development, a Pakistani national was caught by the Border Security Force (BSF) in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district while allegedly trying to illegally enter India. The arrest took place amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, following the Pahalgam terror attack.
The man has been identified as Muhammad Hussain, who is now in Punjab Police custody. During the search, authorities found Pakistani currency and a Pakistan National Identity Card in his possession.
“The suspect was immediately handed over to the police after being caught near the international border,” officials confirmed.
This incident comes just days after a Pakistani Ranger was arrested by Indian forces in Rajasthan for attempting a similar illegal border crossing. Initial reports suggest that the ranger may have crossed for espionage or surveillance purposes. He is currently being interrogated by BSF officials.
Adding to the ongoing border strain, Indian BSF jawan Purnam Kumar Shaw was recently detained by Pakistani forces after accidentally crossing the border in Punjab. Despite India’s strong diplomatic appeals, Pakistan has so far refused to release Shaw or provide updates about his status.
While such accidental crossings are usually resolved through flag meetings, Pakistan’s non-cooperation has further complicated the already tense border situation.
