The Rajasthan Tourism Department is actively promoting less-explored and unique destinations across the state to attract domestic and international tourists. The initiative aims to move beyond traditional tourism, which often focuses on palaces, forts, and monuments, and highlight new experiences and cultural treasures.
“We want to present Rajasthan not just as a land of historic monuments, but as a destination offering fresh and unique experiences for travelers from across India and the world,” said officials from the Tourism Department.
18 Destinations Identified for Development
The department has identified 18 locations across more than 19 districts, including:
-
Badnor
-
Mandalgarh
-
Gagron Fort (World Heritage Site)
These sites have largely remained under the tourist radar, and the state plans to develop basic infrastructure, followed by global branding initiatives, to position them as premium travel destinations.
Action Plan and Implementation
A dedicated team, led by Additional Chief Secretary Praveen Gupta along with senior Tourism Department officials, is preparing a detailed action plan. The plan focuses on:
-
Infrastructure development to enhance accessibility and visitor experience
-
Global branding campaigns to attract international tourists
-
Promotion of unique cultural and heritage experiences
Officials expect the strategies for infrastructure upgrades and global promotion to be finalized within the next two to three months, marking a significant step in Rajasthan’s tourism expansion.
Boosting Tourism Beyond Traditional Attractions
By highlighting hidden gems like Badnor, Mandalgarh, and Gagron Fort, Rajasthan seeks to:
-
Diversify its tourism offerings
-
Attract new segments of travelers
-
Enhance global recognition of its lesser-known destinations
This initiative is part of a broader effort to reposition Rajasthan as a world-class tourism destination, while providing visitors with fresh experiences beyond the well-trodden paths.
