The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather forecasts predicting heatwave conditions in parts of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh (UP), and Bihar over the next few days. Meanwhile, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected across Northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim for the next five days.
Rainfall Forecast
IMD forecasts heavy rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds over Northeast India from May 15 to 19. Specific states expected to receive isolated heavy rainfall include Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam, and Meghalaya.
Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and gusty winds (30-50 kmph) will also affect parts of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and other southern states over the next three to five days.
In Western India, regions like Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Gujarat are likely to see light to moderate rain with thunderstorm activity between May 15 and 18.

- West Uttar Pradesh: May 16 to 18
- East Uttar Pradesh: May 15 to 17
- Bihar: May 15 and 16

In addition, hot and humid weather will prevail in Gangetic West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Jharkhand, Bihar, and Odisha over the next few days.
Monsoon Update
The Southwest Monsoon has progressed into parts of the South Bay of Bengal, Andaman Islands, and Andaman Sea. Conditions are favorable for the monsoon to advance further into these areas and central Bay of Bengal in the coming 3-4 days.
