Tragic School Building Collapse in Jhalawar Leaves Seven Children Dead
A tragic accident struck the Piplod Government School in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar district on Friday, July 25, 2025, when a portion of the school building collapsed. The incident resulted in the death of seven students and injured 28 others, according to police reports.
Collapse Buries About 35 Students Under Debris
The collapse occurred in the section of the building housing 6th and 7th grade classrooms, trapping nearly 35 children beneath rubble composed of concrete slabs, bricks, and stones. Local residents, parents, and teachers rushed to the scene, aiding rescue operations and frantically searching through the debris to save the children.
Locals Accuse Administration of Ignoring Repeated Warnings
Angry locals claim they had repeatedly alerted the tehsildar and sub-divisional magistrate about the deteriorating condition of the school building, but no preventive action was taken. “This tragedy happened due to the administration’s negligence,” said Balkishan, a local resident.
District Collector Promises Investigation and Accountability
Jhalawar district collector, Ajay Singh, stated that the administration had recently asked the education department to report all unsafe school buildings, but this school was not listed among them. “We will conduct a thorough investigation and hold responsible parties accountable,” Mr. Singh assured.
Continued Rescue Efforts and Support for Victims
Rescue teams continue to work tirelessly to assist injured children, while the community mourns the loss and demands swift action to prevent such incidents in the future.
