Karisma Kapoor and Mohnish Bahl Reflect on Filming
Karisma Kapoor and Mohnish Bahl recently graced the stage of Indian Idol 15 alongside director Sooraj Barjatya to celebrate the legacy of Rajshri Films. During the show, the trio recalled their experiences shooting the famous song “Mhare Hiwda Mein Nache Mor” from the film Hum Saath Saath Hain. The conversation was sparked by a contestant’s captivating performance of the song.
Shooting in Tough Conditions
Karisma Kapoor shared that filming the song was far from easy. Despite the grandeur seen on screen, the shoot involved hours on a moving elephant under the scorching Rajasthan heat. The actress revealed, “It may look like we were enjoying ourselves, but sitting on an elephant for 2–3 hours in such conditions was incredibly challenging. The elephant kept moving, making it even tougher to maintain balance.”
A Fun Story from Sooraj Barjatya
Director Sooraj Barjatya shared a humorous anecdote from the shoot. He explained that once the team was on the elephant, getting down wasn’t simple since elephants don’t squat on command. “We were stuck without water in the extreme heat, and at one point, I thought I might faint. Meanwhile, Karisma and Tabu kept dancing effortlessly,” he added.
Tabu Steps In for Mohnish Bahl
Barjatya also recalled a unique moment involving Mohnish Bahl. Since Mohnish’s character had a physical limitation (one hand had to stay down), choreographing his dance steps was challenging. Ultimately, Tabu took over most of the dancing, while Karisma brought grace and charm to the performance, making up for the limitations.
Behind the Glamour
Karisma emphasized how much effort goes into creating such a visually stunning scene. “On screen, everything looks so beautiful and effortless, but behind the scenes, it was an entirely different story,” she said.
This nostalgic trip down memory lane not only highlighted the dedication of the cast and crew but also brought a fresh perspective to one of Bollywood’s most iconic songs.
