Ongoing Rescue Operation to Save 3-Year-Old Chetna from Rajasthan Borewell Amid Rocky Terrain Challenges

The rescue operation in Rajasthan to save 3-year-old Chetna, who fell into a 700-feet-deep borewell while playing, has entered its ongoing phase. Despite the continuous efforts of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and other disaster management teams, significant setbacks have been encountered due to rocky terrain and unexpected rain delays.

Chetna is trapped at a depth of 150 feet, with the rescue team digging a parallel tunnel measuring 170 feet, positioned about 10 feet away from the borewell. However, progress has been hindered by the presence of solid rock, making it difficult to advance. In addition, an eight-foot L-shaped pipe is being constructed to reach the toddler, although the construction process has been slow.

District Collector Kalpana Agarwal emphasized the complications brought on by the difficult terrain and temperature differences between the surface and the tunnel’s depth. Despite these obstacles, NDRF officer Mahaveer Singh reassured the public, stating that the team is close to reaching Chetna and ensuring the operation’s precision.

The rescue operation is being carried out under the guidance of experts and Army jawans, with efforts aimed at safely extracting Chetna from the borewell. Officials are working tirelessly, racing against time, to bring her to safety.
