Rajasthan Food Safety Team Seizes 550 kg of Suspected Adulterated Ghee in Major Factory Raid

Seizure Details and Raid Execution
The Rajasthan Food Department seized 550 kg of potentially adulterated ghee from Sanwarya Agro Foods in Kotputli-Behror district. Acting on recurring complaints, the raid was carried out on Friday by Additional District Collector Omprakash Saran and Food Safety Officer Hemant Kumar.

Ghee Samples Sent for Testing
Samples of the seized ghee were sent to the food safety lab in Jaipur for analysis. Employees at the factory revealed that the factory owner, Manjeet from Haryana, sourced the ghee in bulk from Delhi, repackaged it, and sold it to rural traders.

Discovery and Seizure of Suspected Adulterated Ghee
During the raid, large iron drums filled with ghee were discovered, prepared for distribution. Suspecting adulteration, officials seized the remaining stock and sent samples for testing. Legal action under the Food Safety Act 2006 will be taken based on lab results, raising concern among other local businesses engaging in similar activities.

Earlier Incidents and Rising Concerns
Earlier this month, Jaipur police seized 1,000 liters of fake ghee from another factory, detaining two individuals. Additionally, an investigation by India Today exposed adulteration practices in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, revealing that fake ghee is often mixed with hydrogenated and refined oils and sold in branded packaging across India.
